Evangelistic Series Begins With a Baptism

On July 18, the Albuquerque North Valley Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church began its week of evangelistic meetings with guest speaker Ronald Costa. While many evangelistic series conclude with baptisms, North Valley church's outreach produced a beautiful reminder that the work of evangelism begins long before the first meeting and continues long after the final sermon.

On Sabbath morning, before the evangelistic meetings officially began, Dora Trujillo publicly gave her life to Christ through baptism. Trujillo’s journey to that moment was years in the making.

More than five years ago, she first began attending North Valley church after being invited by her sister-in-law. 

After Trujillo experienced the devastating loss of both her husband and her daughter, she searched for hope and discovered the promises of Jesus. Those promises became an anchor through life's darkest seasons and ultimately led her to make the decision to publicly declare her faith in Christ.

Surrounded by her new church family, Trujillo entered the waters of baptism with joy and gratitude, excited not only to follow Jesus but also to become part of His family of believers. Her story reminds us what evangelism is truly about.

Trujillo’s baptism happened before the evangelistic series had really begun, but in reality, it was the result of years of faithful ministry. It was evidence that God had already been working behind the scenes through ordinary people who simply chose to love, pray, invite, and remain faithful.
