Dennis Shafter Laid to Rest

Former Arkansas-Louisiana Conference Secretary and Ministerial Director Dennis Shafter died June 3, 2026, at his home in Titusville, Fla., following an extended illness.

Shafter served as Arkansas-Louisiana Conference secretary and ministerial director from 2002 to 2017. During his years of ministry, he was known for identifying and sharing resources that strengthened pastors and supported their work in local churches.

Colleagues remember Shafter as a dedicated servant whose influence extended far beyond his years of conference leadership. Through his ministry, he helped guide many individuals in their spiritual journeys and encouraged pastors throughout the field.

Shafter is survived by his wife, Karen, and daughter, Wendy. The couple had been married nearly 51 years.

A memorial service is scheduled for June 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Titusville Seventh-day Adventist Church in Titusville, Fla.
