A cup of tea, meaningful conversation, and an opportunity to connect. What may seem like a simple gathering can become a powerful opportunity for ministry, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

During the Texico Conference’s Equipping Texico leadership training weekend, held Oct. 24–25 in Midland and Odessa, Tex., Women’s Ministries took a different approach to its training sessions. Rather than inviting only those already serving in Women’s Ministries leadership, Texico Conference Women’s Ministries Director Teresa Flores extended the invitation to all women from area churches, regardless of whether or not they held an official ministry position.

Organized around a tea party, the gathering provided a welcoming environment where women could connect, learn about the purpose of Women’s Ministries, and discover opportunities to serve.

For Flores, the goal was not simply to train current leaders but to help prepare women who may one day be called to serve.

“So many women don’t feel equipped to serve in Women’s Ministries when they are asked,” Flores says. “That’s why I wanted all women from area churches to be invited to the training, so they could learn more about the ministry. If they are ever asked to serve, at least they will know what it entails.”

Throughout the gathering, Flores introduced participants to the responsibilities of Women’s Ministries leaders, discussed outreach opportunities, and encouraged conversations about the needs of women in local congregations. The discussions highlighted how intentional ministry can create meaningful connections, nurture spiritual growth, and provide support to women at different stages of life.

Flores also emphasized the importance of reaching women who are new to the church. With many new members being women, she encouraged congregations to be intentional about creating opportunities for fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual support.

She reminded participants that Women’s Ministries is about much more than organizing events. Even something as simple as a tea party can become an opportunity to minister when there is a clear purpose behind it.
