Westbank United Seventh-day Adventist Church received Green Leaf Community recognition from the Greater New Orleans Interfaith Climate Coalition at the coalition’s first Environmental Justice Day celebration.
According to the coalition, the designation acknowledges the congregation’s efforts to care for creation and address environmental concerns in its community. The coalition’s Green Leaf Communities Initiative helps congregations put environmental stewardship into practice through learning opportunities, partnerships and local projects. Its goals include helping churches lessen their impact on the environment and prepare for climate-related challenges.
The Southwest Region Conference congratulates Westbank United and its members for their commitment to caring for God’s creation.
