When Mount of Blessings Church set out to host a community health fair, the vision was simple: let our community know we are here for them. Following Christ's method of ministry, we wanted to meet people where they are—mixing with them, showing sympathy, ministering to their needs, and only then inviting them to follow Him.
Nearly 300 people, including many children, came through our doors. About half of our guests spoke primarily Spanish, and my wife spent the day welcoming them, guiding them through each station, answering questions, and ensuring they felt seen and cared for. Many of our guests were familiar faces from our monthly food pantry, while others were visiting our church for the very first time.
We gave out backpacks and school supplies, and the gratitude on people's faces said more than words ever could. Alongside meeting physical needs, we also shared Bible study invitations and literature. Seven children expressed interest in joining our Pathfinder Club, which is a promising step toward future discipleship.
Our plan is to follow up personally with everyone who attended—not only to invite them to future church events, but also to let them know that our doors, and our support, remain open long after the health fair.
This event was not the end. It was a doorway. And we're praying it leads many into a lasting relationship with this church and, most importantly, with Christ.
