In July, the Fondren Seventh-day Adventist Church family celebrated John T. Boston II’s birthday for the first time since he became their senior pastor in December.
Since that time, Boston has led the Fondren church family with energy, passion, and spiritual edification. His guiding principle has been to encourage the church to express its goals in the present tense and live them out in its ministry. He has admonished that God is not looking for an active church, but a productive church.
Boston has connected with every ministry by encouraging and guiding the leaders to realize and recognize how ministry should impact not only the church, but also the community.
Through his leadership, the church engaged in 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting with the primary focus of boosting Christian education. One encouraging development in that area is Excel Adventist Academy’s enrollment, which has risen from 43 to more than 140 students for the current school year.
On July 11, Boston’s parents, in-laws, and other family members flew in to join the birthday celebration. Following Boston’s message to the congregation and a video greeting from Southwest Region Conference President Carlton P. Byrd, D.Min., the Fondren congregation created a birthday celebration atmosphere complete with singing, balloons, and birthday card greetings. After the service, a fellowship meal was held, allowing the members to continue expressing their appreciation to Boston.
May God continue to bless, empower, and graciously lead Boston in his ministry in the Missouri City/southwest Houston area and beyond.
